We have been buying from Takigawa Koi Farm for some 20 years now. The farm was started by Hiroaki Takigawa, whom was previously a staff member at Sakai Fish Farm. Actually, back in those days, there was only three people at Sakai, The Father, and his brother, and Takigawa-san. With a dream of breeding his own Koi, Takigawa-san left and started his own farm. His main focus was Kohaku, but also the other Gosanke varieties to some degree. That said, Takigawa-san became famous for Goshiki and Goromo, and once had a magazine article published about his called 'Goshiki Gifted from Heaven'. Kujaku was also another non-Gosanke that he also managed to produce very well, though is less of a focus these days.

In the last couple of years, Takigawa-san's son, 'Hassei' came on board to work at the farm, and it is likely that in the next few years he will become President of the farm, as it is clearly evident that he shares the same passion for producing good Koi, as his father. Perhaps it's in the genes!?

The farm has grown a lot over the years, and the progress that has been made in the last two years since Hassei came on board, I think gives the farm much potential for the coming years!
