Japan trip 2000

As of writing this,we are presently in Japan buying Koi.

4th November 2000.

We took a day off today and decided to go sightseeing. We will be looking for Koi again tomorrow. The picture on the left is Shinkeien Garden in the city of Kurashiki. We visited Kurashiki today, which is quite a modern city. However, within the city lies this wonderful 'Japanese style' area which dates back to the Edo Period.
This is another picture of the same garden within the 'Edo' area of Kurashiki. Wonderful area to visit!
This is a picture of part of Wakabayashi Koi farm at dusk. Of all the farms we have visited so far, Wakabayashi is one of the two most impressive!!! His Koi, and ponds have to be seen to be fully appreciated! Mr Wakabayashi pays great attention to detail and perfection in everything he does. His pond systems are very 'high-tech' by Japanese standards, and are meticulously constructed. His Koi are meticulously produced also! They are of wonderful quality, with wonderful patterns, and are in wonderful health! Do I seem impressed???...because I definately am! Naturally, I couldn't refrain from buying from Wakabayashi despite intending this as a learning trip, not buying trip! Damn... we overspent here! <grin>
Today (1st November), we bought these five Nissai Shiro Utsuris from Omosako. The Koi are absolutely stunning! (but unfortunately, not cheap)
It has been very busy so far, to say the least! We have been to several breeders, but so far only bought from four. We have also been to the Hiroshima Miyoshi Koi Show. The Grand Champion is pictured below.
The Kohaku to the left is the Hiroshima Miyoshi Koi Show Grand Champion. This wonderful Kohaku is 84cm and absolutely awesome! The picture does this Koi no justice at all...perfection!
The two Koi on right are from Momotaro. These are two years old and about 50cm long! Both are definate females and perfection indeed! These are two of only a handful of Koi that we have bought.
The Showas on the left are of wonderful quality, and range between approximately 20 and 28cm. We bought these Koi on the 1st of November.
The two on the right, are two more that we did buy! Both are actually Sanke, and both females. One is top class Tategoi!...guess which one!??? Both are about 50cm long.
This is Momotaro's number 2 Sansai (three year old). The best one was already sold! But, this one looks better than anyone else's best! Size is 66cm. If we could have bought this, we would have! But having said that, this Koi would be quite affordable if someone were interested? This is the finest Koi we have seen so far!

November 2nd 2000

Got carried away at Wakabayashi today!... bought too many Koi, and will have to remortgage something!? The Kohaku on the right is a 40cm one that we bought.

The Kohaku on the left is awesome!, and 55cm long. This Kohaku is perfection. It has all the characteristics of the Sensuke bloodline.
Yet another stunning Wakabayashi Kohaku that we purchased. It is 54cm long, and again stunning!
Need I say anything???....56cm, and absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait to get it home!

Tategoi at it's best!...59cm, and awesome!..can't wait to see this at home either!
